Witfield Park Retirement Village residents enjoy knitting and reading during lockdown

The elderly and the frail are among those hit hardest by the coronavirus; however, some residents from Witfield Park Retirement Village found ways to deal with the national lockdown.

The village will remain in quarantine for the recommended period.

As residents are not allowed to have visitors or enjoy social gatherings, they had to conduct plans on how to kill boredom.

Several residents will be reading while being in self-isolation and others will keep themselves busy by knitting, crocheting or doing crossword puzzles.

Marinda Lombard from the retirement village emphasised that the their residents have everything they require in terms of food.

“All the essential services are provided to our residents. There is food available at the village, and the local SPAR is also doing deliveries for the retirement village should they want anything else,” Marinda said.

According to Marinda, the elderly at the village are starting to comprehend the importance of the lockdown.
