Watch: Shave, spray, donate with this year’s Cansa Shavathon
Anyone can host an event, it is not limited to workplaces, organisations or schools.

The Cancer Association of South Africa’s (Cansa) 17th national Shavathon will be taking place on February 29 at shopping centres countrywide.
This will include events at East Point Shopping Centre and East Rand Mall.
The theme is “Hope 2020” as participants will be giving hope to cancer survivors and loved ones by showing solidarity with them in the fight against cancer as they stencil, spray or shave their hair.
Maria Scholtz, Cansa head of sustainability, said: “Adults pay R50 and children u-12 will pay R25 to participate. Funds received go towards Cansa’s care and support programmes for patients, caregivers and loved ones.
“We hope everyone will join us in showing those affected by cancer that they are not alone. Participating provides an opportunity for everyone to be involved in inspiring hope by spraying or stencilling their hair or shaving their head or donating a ponytail to make a wig.
“Selfie boards are also available to share the fun and action with others while creating awareness of cancer and the need to support cancer survivors (patients).
Hosts’ events will take place between March 2 and 6. Hosts are encouraged to challenge 20 potential hosts to organise a Shavathon event.
In order to host an event, register and order Shavathon products through the Shavathon eShop at www.shavathon.org.za
Lots more information on the Shavathon and events can be found on the Cansa website.
The deadline for registration and orders is February 21.
