Huxtable stars at (IFBB) South African Championships
The initial line-up included 12 athletes before the group was watered down to six, who then progressed to the finals.
Local fitness guru Craig Huxtable finished sixth in his u-90kg division during the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) South African Championships recently staged at the Emerald Resort and Casino.
Huxtable, who tipped the scales at 88.5kg on the day, said: “The SA Champs line-up put me up against the best of the best, and it humbled me. I stood up against higher quality athletes than I have ever stood before, I was not disappointed by any means.”
“Sixth place was not a placing I was looking for, but I understand and respect what needs to be done to move up the ranks in the hierarchy,” he admitted, before paying homage to his mentor.
“Curtis Howells, you came through for me on so many levels: emotionally, physically and psychologically – I feel I have now found my ‘sweet spot’ in terms of where I need to fit in and I know that together we will one day achieve that goal and vision we speak about constantly.
“I am so proud to say that I am coached by Curtis Howells from Gym Warrior Nation, and for many more years to come.
“To my fellow athletes and competitors at the SA Champs, I thank you for putting your best on stage and giving me the privilege to do battle with you.”
