Concordia learner achieves third place at World Freestyle Championship
The nine-year-old Premier champ recently achieved a third place in the Freestyle category in the age group of 10 and under.
Jheté Forshaw of Laerskool Concordia was in fine form when she recently represented her country at the World Freestyle Championship at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool, England.
Jheté competed against top dancers from across the world. All participants in the age group competed simultaneously and elimination took place as the heats progressed for each division.
She had to participate in various qualifying competitions in order to participate in this prestigious competition.
“It was an amazing experience to represent South Africa. The dancers in the competition were strong and extremely talented, as always,” said Jheté who started her dancing at the age of three.
She thanked her dance teachers who helped her to achieve her goals.
“I couldn’t have done it without the support of Keziah van Vreden from Dance Rush International Studio in Bredell, Steve Noall and Dave Jones.”
According to her parents, she has achieved numerous placings over the years.
“We couldn’t be prouder of her as she achieved so much at such a young age,” said her father, Mark Gilpin.
“She loves dancing. Through dance she can express herself and show her emotions. She’s got rhythm and is extremely talented.
“Jheté is also a good singer. You can give her any song and she’ll be able to sing it, but dancing is her first love.”
Mark said Jheté dances seven days a week.
