Coach Seforo withdraws Boksburg FC from Super League
Seforo has been singing the same tune of a lack of commitment and discipline from his troops, but opted to remain positive in the hope that the situation would change, but the situation worsened until it became a crisis.
When less than 10 players availed themselves for duty ahead of Boksburg Football Club’s fixture against Zwide FC at the Boksburg City Stadium recently, it was the final straw for Boksburg coach Ernest Seforo.
The mentor was not only forced to abandon the match, which gifted Zwide an easy three points, but Seforo, who has also been in touch with club executives regarding the decision, has pulled the team out of the Eastern Local Football Association Super League.
The Boksburg Football Club now has no team representing it in the top league.
The team will now feature in the Promotional League, which does not require clubs to have more than one team representing it, unlike the Super League.
According to Seforo, the team will finish the remainder of the season playing in the Promotional League, with the Blues’ first game scheduled for August 10.
Since the beginning of the season, the Boksburg Stadium outfit has no wins next to their name, with their only point coming from a draw.
A very disappointed Seforo explained: “This was a very difficult decision to make. It’s been giving me sleepless nights, but I was left with no choice.
“I wanted to do it (the withdrawal) during the first round of the season, but during the countless meeting I’ve had with the players, they kept on reassuring me that the situation would change, but actions speak louder than words.
“Talk is cheap. All I’ve been getting is empty promises.
“It became clear that the boys don’t like football and you can’t force them. I’ve got about 12 committed boys who I’m going to take with me to the Promotional League.” – @SabeloBoksburg
