Arrested for robbing a video game shop

A case of business robbery was opened at the Boksburg North SAPS while investigations into the case continue.

A 43-year-old man has been arrested for business robbery after he and two other suspects allegedly robbed a video game shop in Boksburg North on June 1.

According to Const Justice Ramaube, a 69-year-old complainant claims that he was robbed by three suspects around 7.30am after parking his white bakkie.

“The complainant said he was grabbed from behind and the suspects pointed a firearm at him,” said Ramaube.

“The suspects said they wanted money and his shop keys.”

Ramaube said the suspects took some coins from the game machines and disarmed his shop security guard and fled the scene.

“It appears as if the suspects discharged the weapon three times and then jumped the wall surrounding the shop. This is when one of the suspects fell and injured his foot.

“The suspect was immediately arrested. The firearm was recovered including some of the items stolen from the shop.

“He was detained and taken to hospital under police guard. The two suspects managed to run away and they are sought by the police.”
