Eight truck batteries stolen at metro’s parks department

Below are some of the serious crimes recently reported to the Boksburg police:

• Security guards ran for their lives when a gang of robbers stormed the metro’s parks department on Railway Street in Plantation on May 2.

The guards told police the robbers entered the council-owned property and fired shots into the air, prompting the guards to run for cover. Once the robbers had left the property, the guards discovered eight batteries from the trucks parked in the yard had been stolen.

• Thieves entered business premises on Kingfisher Avenue, Sunward Park, and stole an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register on May 1. The property is insured.

 

• A man’s girlfriend’s Toyota Yaris was stolen while parked in the parking lot on the corner of Trichardts Road and Voortrekker Street, opposite the Civic Centre, on May 2. The stolen car is not insured.

• An Angelo informal settlement man suffered a bullet wound when gunmen robbed him of his groceries in his yard on April 30. The victim told police the thugs arrived and started to open fire at him before he ran for cover behind his company vehicle, which was parked in the yard. After the thugs had left, the victim discovered his groceries were stolen.

• In Sunward Park, thieves forced open the door of a residential house and stole valuable goods, including a TV set, laptop and iPad, while the homeowners were asleep in the building on May 5.

• In Parkdene, burglars forced their way into a residential house on Botes Street and stole electrical appliances on May 4.
