Market Street plunged into darkness as residents demand answers

The Advertiser has recently received a number of complaints from people who have made the same observation in various parts of the city, where residents and motorists are forced to contend with darkness.

Residents have voiced concerns over dysfunctional streetlights on a stretch of Market Street in the Boksburg CBD.

One resident reported that the streetlights on Market Street have been off for a long time.

The concerned resident claims that the streetlights in question became dysfunctional moments after the municipality changed the source of power from electricity to solar system.

Residents now demand to know as to why a major street which is also deemed a crime hot spot is plunged into darkness.

No comment has been received from the metro at the time of going to press.
