Cook and Culture: Keeping life festive
With St Patrick’s Day coming up, Celtic Rock showing at The Barnyard Emperors and the holiday’s on the horizon, here are a few tricks and tips to keep things festive.

Digital
It is a busy month ahead, so save some time and do shopping online. There are wonderful specials available for online shoppers at Woolies, Takealot, Pick n Pay and many more. Buy everything you need without stepping out of the house.
Recipe
Make St Patrick’s Day fun for the children. Add a few drops of green food colouring to your milk, porridge or pancake batter and share the green spirit.
Home Remedy
It is flu season! Be prepared, stock up on natural remedies. To help relieve flu and cough symptoms add honey, lemon and ginger to your cup of rooibos tea. These ingredients have natural healing qualities.
Pro Tip
It is important to remember a few office etiquette tips. Avoid using office milk for your Kellogg’s, if two people eat cereal there will be no milk left for everyone’s coffee for the rest of the day. It is considered selfish heating your leftover fish dish in the office microwave If you know you are a sloppy and loud eater, rather eat in a separate eating area or outside, avoid eating at your desk among your colleagues.

Food For Thought
You don’t have to be Irish to enjoy St Patrick’s Day. Saint Patrick’s Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick, is a cultural and religious celebration held on March 17, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland. In most countries though, it is just a day to celebrate friends and to have fun and enjoy yourself.
