Adam’s 100 not enough to derail Kempton

In the end, despite a great batting effort, Kempton managed to overhaul Boksburg’s target of 216/6 with eight wickets down.

Like most things in nature, there are bad and good days.

Sport is no exception.

CMH Boksburg Cricket Club captain Adam Forbes had a great day in his side’s Eastern Cricket Premier League top six clash at Prince George Park on February 10 and had his team managed to pull off the victory, it would’ve been a perfect day for the skipper.

All three of Forbes’ teammates – the Hollard brothers (Jordan and Matthew) and Josh Taylor – did not even bat during Boksburg’s innings, thanks to their skipper’s star showing with the bat in hand.

Forbes generated a brilliant 115 runs unbeaten.

The tally was part of a great start for Boksburg as Forbes’ opening partner, Akhter Rasul, knocked 52.

But the Prince George Park XI failed to take advantage of the runs compiled as the visitors’ better collective effort proved decisive as they chipped away at the 215-run target.

Marius Lubbe finished with 57 and was Kempton’s top scorer before they clinched the two-wicket win after 48.3 overs.

Forbes fought to the end, taking half the Kempton line-up and complementing his batting performance earlier in the day by finishing with 5/69 and a single maiden in his allotted 10 bowling overs.

Neo Felane of Kempton led his side in the bowling with 3/36; 1.
