Boksburg overcome spirited Duduza
It was a big improvement from Forbes and company, who imploded to 87 all-out the previous week against Spurs.
CMH Boksburg Cricket Club bounced back from a disappointing defeat to Actonville Spurs with a resounding 30-run victory over Duduza in their Eastern Cricket Premier League encounter at Prince George Park on November 11.
Sent to bat first, the home side, eager to get back to winning ways, were not going to fall into the complacency trap for the second time in as many weeks and their batting innings suggested so.
Opener and captain Adam Forbes could only make 19 runs but his struggle with form would soon be forgotten thanks to the heroics of Willie Moolman and Jordan Hollard, who both hit half centuries as the home side raced to their total of 225 runs.
Mike Heger, coming in as part of the middle order, contributed with 29 as the home side maximised their 50 overs and minimised their mistakes more effectively.
Duduza would not go away without a fight and gave a good account of themselves in their chase.
Following a slow start which suggested that the writing was on the wall for the visitors, top man Tumelo Bodiba, who finished as the top run scorer of the day with his massive 88, started the fight back.
Teammate Tumelo Simelane scored 46 to keep Duduza’s chances alive but it would be CMH Boksburg’s bowling and fielding that would win the battle.
CMH Boksburg’s Matthew Hollard stood out with the leather, taking 4/51 in his allotted 10 overs of bowling – including a single maiden. He proved significant in helping lead the hosts limit the visitors to 195 as CMH Boksburg returned to winning ways.
