Bedfordview take Boksburg down a peg
Skipper Adam Forbes will return for Boksburg in the clash with Duduza.
Bedfordview Cricket Club knocked CMH Boksburg off their perch with a four-wicket home win on Sunday, October 28.
A haul of 46 runs by CMH Boksburg’s in-form batsman/wicketkeeper, Kane Horwell, helped put his side in good stead on their way to their grand total of 172 inside 45 overs.
Ultimately, this proved insufficient as the host’s Mathew van Dyk led the comeback with his half-ton.
He finished with 62 as the hosts reached 173 in 46.4 overs.
The hosts proved superior on both the batting and bowling fronts, with duo Clinton Groenewald and Leandre Lubbe taking a hat-trick of wickets apiece.
The former, who did the most damage to the visitors’ batting order, produced 3/17, including a single maiden, while the latter finished with 3/41, also including a single maiden.
Teammate Eben Koekemoer took a pair of wickets to finish with 2/35, also inclusive of a sole maiden.
CMH Boksburg travelled to Johannesburg without incumbent skipper Adam Forbes, who was involved with hockey duty, representing Northern Gauteng in Cape Town.
Forbes and co. finished fifth at the men’s indoor interprovincial tournament.
He is expected to return this weekend for the clash against Duduza at Prince George Park. Akhter Rasul deputised for him during the Bedfordview clash.
