Bulle annihilate United in Carlton league

The home side blew the Reiger Park outfit off the park as they outscored them 47-12 in the second stanza in Pretoria.

The Naka Bulle pulled away with a second-half demolition of East Rand United during their Carlton League match to emerge as 71-28 winners.

United right-winger Jackie Jonkers has been in sensational try-scoring form and this match was no exception as he grabbed a pair of five-pointers for the travellers.

Replacement front-rower Madoda Dlamini also scored for United but it did little to mend the difference on the scoreline.

United’s captain, Fanie van Staden, said: “The first half of the game was very good for us and it was still anyone’s game to take. In the second half, they scored two quick tries and we struggled to get our momentum back.

“We didn’t stick to our defence structure or game plan. It was very disappointing for us and our sponsor Phakisa because we know we are a better team than that score suggests.”

The Bulle scored 10 tries to United’s three. This was their penultimate game in the Carlton League. Their last game was against Centurion – also in Pretoria.

With their Carlton League journey completed, the Reiger Park outfit resume Peregrine League duties this Saturday (June 16) at home against Vereeniging.
