A woman told the police that on January 8 she was dragged off the street and raped by an armed man known to her.
According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Sgt Cebisa Maseko, the attack happened in Angelo informal settlement.
The gunman, in full view of other community members, confronted the victim and pointed a firearm at her as she was walking along a street in the area at about 6pm.
The woman told the police that she screamed for help, but community members just continued looking on and made no attempt to intervene.
The suspect dragged the victim to his shack where he raped her and later escorted her to her home.
