According to ER24, when paramedics arrived on the scene just before 9pm they found a bakkie on the side of the highway.

The driver was trapped inside and had to be extricated with the jaws of life.

Upon further assessment, it was found he was in a critical condition.

“ER24 transported the patient to hospital, but unfortunately he died shortly afterwards from multiple injuries,” said ER24 spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not yet known and local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.”
