Cason resident (18) demolishes Caveman Chop in seven minutes!
Richard van Wyk (18), from Cason is embracing his title of Boksburg K90’s 'Biggest Chop'.
This is after he finished a 1kg rib-eye steak on the bone (weight excluded the bone) in only seven minutes during the K90 shopping centre’s 20th anniversary fun day on September 2.
The mammoth cuts of meat, known as the Turn ’n Tender Caveman Chop, were supplied and grilled to perfection by the restaurant’s expert chefs.
Van Wyk won himself R1 000 cash and a R500 Hirsch’s voucher.

He told the Advertiser he saw the first article about the competition two weeks prior to the event.
“I cut the article out and placed the newspaper cutting under my pillow – and a week later, I saw it in the newspaper again,” van Wyk said.
He saw this as a “sign” and grabbed the opportunity with both hands, determined to win the title.
“I am ecstatic about my win,” he said.

The centre celebrated with throw-back prices to 1997, live entertainment, a Brotherhood Strongman competition and plenty of family fun, including an appearance by DJ Fresh.

Kiddies enjoyed painting their faces, stilt walkers, balloon men, uni-cyclists and jumping castles.
The K90 Centre also supported the charity of nine-year-old Dario Gouveia, who started the Sole2Sole charity earlier this year which give shoes to the needy. Community members supported this initiative by donating used shoes.
A big box filled with shoes was handed over to Dario on the day.
Another highlight was the sports memorabilia auction with former Springbok rugby player, Thys Burger.
