CBC artillery too heavy for Spurs

CBC Old Boys’ heavy artillery proved too much for Actonville Spurs as the home side amassed a total of 271 runs in their 50 overs before winning proceedings by four runs via the Duckworth-Lewis method

CBC incumbent captain Nicholas Lockyer led the return of the big guns as he re-assumed leadership from Casey Arnold, who did an admirable job in Lockyer’s absence.

Star and opening batsman Wesley Coulentianos also returned, as he and Lockyer put on a returnees show to lead their side.

Coulentianos hit the half-century mark before ending with 55, while his skipper top scored on the day with his unbeaten 113.

By the time the D/L method was put into effect, the visitors had lost two wickets in openers Michael Enslin (6) and Mark Pearse (42).

Teammate Kyle Degambur was on a roll when play was interrupted with him on an undefeated 63.

The home side’s score was 271/8 in their allotted 50 overs, while Spurs stood on 113/2 after 27.3 overs.

Spurs’ Wilber van Dyk shone in the bowling with his numbers of 3/46 inside nine overs of bowling, but the day belonged to the home side, who never slacked following their encouraging start. – @SabeloBoksburg
