T20: CBC makes it 2-in-1
CBC Old Boys cruised to an eight-wicket win against Tembisa in Boksburg in an Eastern Cricket T20 encounter on Sunday, January 22.
Old Boys calmly went about their business as the visitors went into bat first. They made a confident start led by Zwelo Ntsimbini and Enock Makamo with their combined 28 runs, including a few boundaries.
Following the opening pair’s departure, it all went south for the visitors, who were eventually bowled out for 70 inside 18 overs.
The next double-digit scorer was to be found in lower-order batsmen Themba Nkanyane, who contributed 11 after Ntsimbini and Makamo (both 14).
Former Old Boys skipper Willie Bernhardt and Stefano di Bartalomeo enjoyed a hat-trick of wickets with (3/6 and 3/14) respectively.
Tembisa’s Themba Nkanyane was responsible for both CBC’s lost wickets (2/19) as Bryce Parsons and Wickus Germishuizen were left red-faced, both suffering duck dismissals.
That’s where Tembisa’s joy would end.
Stand-in captain Casey Arnold continued with his fine form with the bat with his unbeaten 39, and Dylan Bennie’s 20 not-out getting the job done for the hosts.
Old Boys’ incumbent skipper, Nicholas Lockyer, is out nursing a shoulder injury.
q The home side made it two games in one day as they followed up their win against Tembisa with a seven-wicket victory against Avion in the day’s afternoon match.
After bowling out Avion for 54, Old Boys went on to overhaul the asked target after conceding three wickets.
Mpho Ndzimande (13), Germishuizen (nil) and Craig Parker (15) contributed with the bat. – @SabeloBoksburg
