Worst season of my career – Harran
Local superbike racing star Brent Harran has deplored this year’s Super GP season as the worst of his career.
This is after the 23-year-old finished the Super GP Superbike racing series in sixth position overall following the championship’s final round, which was recently held at the Red Star Raceway in Delmas.
Harran qualified for the final showdown on the back of a third-place finish in the serie’s penultimate race at the Dezzi Raceway in Port Shepstone.
Recalling proceedings in Delmas, Harran explained: “Heat one I had a bad start and managed to finish a lucky fifth. Heat two, I had a better start; was fighting for the podium when I crashed out towards the end of the second lap.
“Not pleased at all, to be honest, had to rank amongst one of my worst weekends this year, along with PE and Zwartkops,” he lamented.
“This year has been really, really tough for me financially out there; we haven’t had the backing we need to be competitive this year and the last race kind of topped off what has been the worst season of my career so far.”
Looking forward to next season, the racer explained: “Got a few things in the pipeline which I’m really hoping will come off, but we are still desperately looking for sponsors for next year to help put us in a position where we have the tools necessary to be competitive.”
Harran is in the process of organising some sponsors for next season and anyone looking to do some advertising for their company can contact him on 078 119 8369, or email him at brentharran@gmail.com. – @SabeloBoksburg
