Dangerous collapsed manhole still not repaired

A dangerous manhole in Main Street, Witfield which collapsed about three months ago, has still not been repaired.

According to Hughie McLennan, he reported the incident to the Ekurhuleni Metro call centre about three times within the last month.

He added that other businesses have also reported it before.

The manhole is situated in the drive-through area of a company and poses a danger to vehicles and pedestrians, specifically children.

Apparently truck drivers and motorists have already driven over the manhole, only causing more damage to the sewage line.

The collapsed manhole has allegedly led to the blockage of the drainage system, which is a hygiene risk to nearby companies.

The Advertiser is awaiting a response from the Ekurhuleni Municipality on this matter.
