According to the complainant, who is a resident in the road, she has reported the stump, which needs to be removed, to the call centre multiple times, and also received a reference number, but to no avail.
She feels that the tree stump is an eyesore to residents and those who travel in and out of the area.
According to Themba Gadebe, metro spokesperson, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s (EMM) Department of Storm Water appointed a contractor to remove the tree to install underground services.
“The resident requested the EMM Parks Department to remove the branches, when the department was attending to a tree complaint a few months ago.
“Although it is not the responsibility of the Parks Department to remove the tree stump, will we attempt to assist as soon as our equipment is out of the Mechanical Workshop.”
