Impala Park’s Marcell a Mr SA top 23 finalist

Marcell Pieterse (30), from Impala Park, is a Top 23 finalist in the Mr South Africa 2016 competition and dreams of working with the leaders of our future – the youth.

He grew up in Primrose and attended Hoërskool Goudrif.

Pieterse married his wife, Bianca, in 2006 and they have two children, Ayden (9) and Caitlyn (7).

Four years ago, Pieterse moved to Boksburg with his family, to be closer to his eldest brother, Wikus, and his children’s school.

“We have come to love the people, atmosphere and the good vibe surrounding Boksburg,” he said.

Pieterse sees himself as a content personality who adapts to situations easily.

He is a dynamic person, ambitious, reliable and hardworking. He loves nature and animals and enjoys the outdoor life.

“My star sign is Leo and my personality traits include generous doses of chivalry, courtesy, gallantry, care and warmth,” he said.

Pieterse met Susan Myburgh, from Model Manifest, at a family function and she encouraged him to enter the Mr South Africa contest.

According to him, Myburgh said she thought he would be a worthy contestant in the competition.

What motivates Pieterse is placing God first and investing his trust and faith in Him.

His drive and passion emphasise his love for his family and friends.

His life-motto is: A healthy body reflects a healthy mind.

So far, being part of the Mr South Africa journey has been a learning and humbling experience for Pieterse.

“My life has changed since I’ve been more involved with charities and I’m always trying to do some random act of kindness towards the community,” he said.

Pieterse was one of three Mr South Africa contestants chosen to be a model, to showcase some of the beautiful suites at the East Rand Wedding Show that was held on July 28 and 29, at Emperors Palace

To raise awareness against women and child abuse, he also took part in the ”Walk a Mile in her Shoes” event on August 13, at West Gate Shopping Centre.

Since the start of the competition, Pieterse has done charity work for the East Rand Protective Workshop.

He also entered the Mad Rage charity event, to raise funds for abused women and children.

As part of the contestants’ challenge for Mr South Africa, they had to do random acts of kindness each day, for 30 days.

Pieterse contributed by helping to collect funds, food and blankets that went to the Wetnose Animal Rescue Centre for abandoned and abused animals.

He pampered the animals by bathing them, walking with them and giving them attention for the day.

“(I have enjoyed) taking part in all the events and seeing how I made a difference in the lives of an individual or a group of people,” he said.

Should you win the Mr South Africa 2016 title, what are your hopes and dreams for South Africa and what would you like to achieve?

“Being a father of two children, I know the importance of education,” said Pieterse.

“As a potential future role model and ambassador for Mr South Africa, working with the youth and being a voice is what I will strive towards.

“The youth are the future of our country and if they are not educated, there will be no future.

“Mr South Africa will provide me with a platform to focus attention on my voice, and that will make relevant change eminent.”

Pieterse is determined to take action and get involved with organisations like Pink Drive, Cansa, Angels without Wings, animal rescue teams and many more.

“(I strive to) help them, build trust with the community (and to) use the network to my advantage to help the organisations,” he said.

“My primary focus will be on helping people in need, making a difference in an individual or a group of people’s lives and focusing on my visions to establish sponsors or investors for the long term.”

Pieterse works as network administrator for eMD Technologies, who are also his sponsor throughout his Mr South Africa journey.

The Mr South Africa Top 12 finalists will be announced end of September, and the finals will be held in November.
