EFC: Smith’s broken limb frustrates Kruger

EFC middleweight fighter Jeremy ''‘Pitbull'' Smith recently broke his arm during training for his much anticipated return to the hexagon, against JP ''Tinkerbell'' Kruger.

The two were scheduled to headline the EFC 51 event, at Carnival City, on Friday, July 15.

Smith broke his arm attempting a spinning backfist against his sparring partner, leaving Kruger and MMA aficionados, who were looking forward to watching Smith in his first bout following a hiatus spanning well over a year, desperately disappointed.

“When I heard about it, I was sad about it,” explained Kruger.

“I was very very excited about this match, I was feeling very ready and I really think it was going to be a banger of a fight. I was really excited to trade some leather with Smith, but I wish him a quick recovery and to be blessed.”

Meanwhile, Smith is set to be out of action for six weeks, but has promised his fans that he’ll be back before the end of the year – better and stronger.

Kruger is preparing for a grappling tournament, set to take place in Cape Town, in early August. News on his next EFC fight is yet to break.

Despite Kruger’s forced withdrawal from the imminent show, Boksburg’s representation remains healthy, with two local fighters in action.

An undercard bout will see the outspoken Patrick ”God of War” Luindula take on Quade Openshaw in their middleweight clash, while Barend ”BB Gun” Nienaber faces Scotland international Danny Henry.

The event will be headlined by a lightweight title fight, which will see American Dave ”Pain Train” Mazany challenge the reigning champion, Leon ”Iron Lion” Mynhardt. – @SabeloBoksburg
