The DA won wards 22, 32, 33, 34, and 43 while the ANC bagged wards 21, 42, 45, and 99.
The battle for control in Ekurhuleni, Johannesburg and Tshwane still continues as parties seek the 51 per cent majority vote to rule outright. This will mean coalitions between political parties needs to be formed.
If after 14 days from Saturday (August 6) no agreement between parties has been reached, provincial and national government can step in to ensure the running of local government.
