The metro police were in a convoy en route to conduct Bumper-to-Bumper operations in Germiston climbing onto the N3 northbound on Barry Marais, when they noticed a passenger in a charcoal VW Polo throwing out something into the nearby bushes.
“The vehicle with three male occupants, was cornered and stopped.
“On searching the nearby bushes, the metro police located a Taurus revolver with two live rounds and with its serial number tampered with.
“The trio was arrested and detained on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at Vosloorus police station,” said EMPD spokesman Wilfred Kgasago.
They are expected to appear in the Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court soon.
