Dyana reaches 661 decimal places of pi

Dayna Mc Clean, a Grade 9 student from St Dominic’s, remembered 661 decimal places of pi before making an error at the school's annual Pi Day Competition on March 14.

She attempted to remember 1 003 decimal places. The African record is apparently citing 5 000 decimal digits.

The competition at St Dominic’s each year is to reward any student who can accurately remember the most decimal places of pi.

The school is extremely proud of her achievement at this stage and looks forward to her new record next year.

Other schools are challenged to participate and encourage the enthusiasm in all students to see if they can give Dayna some competition.
