His thorough and diligent investigation resulted in two rapists, aged 21 and 23, being jailed for gang-raping an 18-year-old woman, in Ramaphosa, in September 2013.
The victim reported the attack to the SAPS, whose FCS unit immediately launched a rape investigation.
Managa was assigned to it and, in the quest to find those responsible for the rape of the teenager, he made sure that he left no stone unturned.
Within 48 hours he managed to find the suspected perpetrators, Thapelo Rutafe (23) and Thapelo Mabethe (21), and they were both brought to justice.
The evidence and Managa’s investigation into the matter positively linked the pair to the rape, and they were both found guilty as charged.
Managa admitted that it was a complex investigation, by its very nature, but he was confident the case was eminently solvable.
Rutafe was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment, and his accomplice received 13 years behind bars.
Managa is based at the Tsakane Police Station, but serves all the police stations falling within the Brakpan cluster (including the Boksburg precincts).
