KC stars in Cardinals’ major win

Pitcher Kieran Cree struck out 10 batters which led the Boksburg Cardinals Major A side to an impressive victory over Randburg’s Stars.

The Cardinals were dealt with an early setback before the game at the Boksburg City Stadium on Sunday, February 28 as they came in a man short with only eight players, which was adjudged as an automatic out.

They were also left with only two outfielders.

The early mishap, however, was soon made up by the home side with watertight fielding and Cree’s precision.

The Cardinals ultimately enjoyed the ascendancy in great parts of the encounter and the result was a 9-3 victory in eight frames in the Gauteng Crossover League game.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals’ u-12 fell 10-1 against the Imps, while the u-15s were edged by Benoni. The u-18 side pummelled Palm Ridge 13-1.
