Tembisa win at rain-soaked Sahara Park against Boksburg

Tembisa Cricket Club earned an impressive victory over its struggling Boksburg counterparts at a drenched Sahara Park Willowmoore Cricket Stadium on Sunday, February 7.

With the persistent rain throughout the weekend, play was delayed, which forced the match officials to reduce the overs per side from 50 to 26. Tembisa made the most of its limited innings after being sent to bat first.

The home side blitzed out of the blocks, with opening duo Enock Makamo (42) and Thando Bula (26) combining for 68 to give their side and inspiring start.

Tembisa’s batting order managed to maintain the momentum on the way to its big total of 178/6 in its 26 overs – the kind of score most sides would normally score in 50 overs.

Boksburg is apparently going through trying times at the moment, and it showed again with the players’ performance – particularly the batting. Only Heinrich Cronje (39) got the scoreboard ticking in an otherwise forgettable outing for Len Meyer’s troops.

The visitors went on to end with 112 in their innings, handing Tembisa the win.
