Boksburg SAPS’ designated firearms control officer, Const Mbali Ngake, says that dozens of uncollected gun licences have been gathering dust in her office.
For that reason, applicants are encouraged to visit the FRC during office hours to collect their licenses or contact Ngake to find out if their licenses are available for collection.
Ngake says she is having difficulty contacting many applicants, as many of them have since changed their contact numbers and addresses.
She added that some licences are for applications that were made more than six years ago.
Members of the public are also advised to note that in terms of the Firearms Control Act, it is the obligation of the applicant to inform the designated firearms control officer of any change of telephone number or address.
“Our FRC is very approachable. So people who have problems or need follow-up information on their applications are welcome to visit or contact us,” said Ngake.
The Boksburg SAPS FRC can be contacted on 011 841 6820 during office hours.
