Premier League cricket is back with a bang

Local sides CBC Old Boys and the Boksburg Cricket Club are both in action this weekend, as the Eastern Cricket season gets off to a new start for the 2015/16 campaign.

Old Boys, who were involved in an absorbing tussle for the Premier League with rivals Benoni Northerns (champions) and Kempton Park, last season, will be looking to go all the way as they set to renew their rivalry with the other two league power houses.

They play against Tembisa on Sunday, while Boksburg take on Actonville.

Old Boys certainly won’t be afforded the luxury of easing into the season, with tough fixtures on the horizon that could go a long way in deciding the trophy’s final destination.

The outcome of their next three matches should give clarity on the direction which their season will likely take.

Newly promoted Boksburg are also set to face early stern tests in their quest to make their presence felt in the elite league.

Len Meyer’s men travel to Kempton Park this Sunday, for the daunting task of facing last season’s runners-up.

The Kempton Park trip will precede matches against defending champions Benoni Northerns, and Springs Old Boys, for their next three matches, which will test how far Meyer and his troops have come.

October 11 – Actonville (away)

October 18 – Kempton Park (home)

October 25 – Benoni Northerns (away)
