Crime snippets: BMW worth R480 000 stolen

A Farrar Park man told police that five gunmen hijacked his BMW, worth about R480 000, on Friday, July 24.

According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Lieut Kwendzakwakhe Ngobese, the victim was confronted by the thugs in his driveway, before they held him at gunpoint, demanding the keys to his BMW.

“He gave them the keys, and the five hijackers jumped into the car and drove away.”

No injuries were reported.

* Meanwhile, on Friday night, July 24, armed thugs made off with goods worth about R50 000 from a business located on Lilly van Niekerk Road, in Boksburg East.

According to Lieut Ngobese, the robbers held security guards at gunpoint and tied them with shoe laces, before loading several pallets of canned food onto a truck and driving off in the truck.

* An Angelo informal settlement man was shot in the stomach and left to die on the street, during the early hours of Saturday, July 15. A passerby noticed the profusely bleeding man lying on the ground and called the police.

He was rushed to hospital by an ambulance.

* In another life-threatening attack, a man was shot in his left shoulder, in a tavern in the Angelo informal settlement, in the early hours of Saturday, July 25.

According to Ngobese, the gunman reportedly entered the tavern, opened fire on the victim and fled the scene.

The motive for the shooting is unknown, but police are investigating cases of attempted murder. -@FanieFLK
