Letjwe La Motheo steals the show at Minno Wa Clap N Tap Awards
Serenading sounds of acapella, supported by the tinkling tambourines and jingling bells, blended harmoniously with the rhythm of clapping and tapping during the first instalment of the Minno Wa Clap N Tap Awards, hosted by Ekurhuleni, on June 27.
Letjwe La Motheo Gospel Choir from Tembisa used their home ground advantage to scoop four top awards in the Best Song of the Year, Best Choir Manager, Best Gospel Music Composer and the Best Male Vocalist categories.
Ardent lovers of clap and tap music filled the Theatre of Marcellus at Emperors Palace to the brim as they came in large numbers from across the country to witness their favorite choirs being honoured for excelling in their craft.
“As the City of Ekurhuleni, we are looking at building a solid partnership with this music genre as it has a way of keeping the youth out of the streets and helps them to discover their talents,” said the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture (SRAC) in Ekurhuleni, Clr Dora Mlambo.
