Nigel win top-of-the-table clash against East Rand United
It was the most anticipated clash in the Merlin League’s round nine of fixtures as second-placed East Rand United travelled to Nigel where the leaders and defending champions were waiting.
Fresh from their big wins against Elsburg and Sasolburg, United were riding on the crest of a wave and had every reason to be confident of claiming their biggest skull to date, Nigel.
And though United came short in the 29-25 thriller on Saturday, June 20, the match lived to its billing as the local team walked away with a bonus point.
