Exhilarating aerobics for a fitter Ekurhuleni

Sweat dripping, hearts throbbing, bodies twisting and turning - this was the order of the day on Saturday morning, May 31, at the Katlehong Stadium during the Ekurhuleni aerobics marathon.

Over a hundred fitness fanatics came out in numbers for a three hour continuous aerobics session, all in the name of fitness.

A first of its kind to be hosted by the City of Ekurhuleni, the aerobics marathon kicked off on a high note at the beginning of this year in the Eastern parts of the city and now, the southern region is sharing in the same experience.

Communities in the north must gear themselves for this exhilarating experience as their turn is coming soon.

“We call upon all Ekurhuleni citizens to join in the fun of keeping fit and maintaining healthy lifestyles with the free and professional aerobics marathon sessions, offered every Saturday morning, at their nearby community parks,” said the Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe.

The professional instructors brought their A-game and their high impact moves to get the participants going.

Activities began with warming up and stretching, followed by Kata-Box and Zumba, and concluded with an intense boot camp session.

“The aerobics marathon is not only meant for physical fitness but is also a mechanism to enhance social cohesion in our communities,” said Gadebe.
