Defending champion Springs blunt brave Owls’ attack
Defending champion Springs Rugby Club sank their Boksburg counterparts 31-19 in a thrilling Valke Peregrine League showdown in Springs on Saturday, April 18.

Boksburg led 14-12 at half-time.
Springs, who are looking to defend their crown, came out strong at Boksburg in the second stanza before outscoring the visitors 19-5 for the win.
“The guys did well, we’re very proud of the boys who put out a good performance against the defending champion,” said Boksburg chairman Sean Scheepers.
“A lot of fight and determination was shown from such a young side. We trailed 24-19 during the latter stages of the game and we had our opportunities to win it but unfortunately we lost.
“Our defence was solid and the guys really played for each other.”
Boksburg’s second side went down 22-0, with the u-21s suffering a gutsy 36-21 loss.
The Owls’ third side salvaged some pride with a whitewash of their own in a 22-0 victory.
Boksburg next game is on May 9 against Brakpan at Prince George Park.
