17 injured in two accidents
A total of 17 people sustained injuries in two accidents, in Boksburg, earlier today.
The first accident occurred at around 6am, when a taxi apparently rear-ended a bakkie on Rondebult Road, at the N12 traffic lights.
“Twelve people were injured as a result and were transported by EMER-G-MED to various hospitals,” said EMER-G-MED spokesperson Danielle Dooley.
Dooley said 10 people sustained minor injuries and two sustained moderate injuries.
“One woman’s legs were trapped and it is suspected that she may have sustained a fracture,” she said.
Ekurhuleni Emergency Services had to use the Jaws of Life to free the taxi driver from the wreckage.
ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said the taxi driver was transported to the Tambo Memorial Hospital by ER24 paramedics.
“He sustained moderate injuries,” she added.
The second accident involved a bakkie with a trailor, which rolled on the Rietfontein Road off-ramp, at the N12 Highway, when the driver lost control.
Two people sustained moderate injuries while the other three sustained minor ones.
