Liverpool v Chelsea, emotional return for Orlando Pirates and more in this week's Sport Planet.

Football

English Premier League

Liverpool v Chelsea, Anfield Stadium, Saturday, November 8.

The inform Blues pay visit to a rather low in confidence Liverpool side in a crucial match which could see Chelsea stretch their lead to seven points on the summit. Liverpool could see their title hopes all but over should they lose, with a win likely give them an outside chance of remaining contenders for honours come May.

Kick-off is scheduled for 2:45pm.

My prediction: Liverpool 1-2 Chelsea.

Telkom Knock-Out

Orlando Pirates v Supersport United, Orlando Stadium, Saturday, November 8.

The Sea Robbers return to action at home since the passing of their captain Senzo Meyiwa. Vladimir Vermezovich’s troops have been in fine form in the knock-out competition, thrashing Ajax Cape Town 4-1 last month in what was Meyiwa’s last appearance, at the same venue.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15pm.

My prediction: Pirates 2-1 United.

German Bundesliga

Borussia Dortmund v Borussia Monchengladbach, Signal Iduna Park, Sunday, November 9.

BVB have only collected an under par seven points from their first ten games of the league and find the relegation zone. Meanwhile, ‘Gladbach sit pretty in third with 20 points – four adrift of leaders Bayern Munich.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6.30pm.

My prediction: BVB 2-3 ‘Gladbach.

Rugby

International

Ireland v South Africa, Lansdowne Road, Dublin, Saturday, November 8.

The Boks begin their first of four consecutive European fixtures against the Irish in a fixture that’s always proven tough for the Green and Gold. However, Heyneke Meyer’s side comes in at full strength in this one and will be confident following their win against the All Blacks.

Kick-off is scheduled for 7.30pm.

My prediction: Boks by five.
