Academy struggles against fierce competition in Singapore

The Rowlin National Cricket Academy (RNCA) opened its Singapore excursion with a loss against Melbourne, before winning one and losing their last match against Singapore Cricket Club and Cricket Club of India respectively.

The Singapore International Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, which featured teams that boast Test, ODI and IPL players, ran from August 22 to 24.

Participating teams, included The Cricket Club of India, Madras (India), Hong Kong Cricket Club, Melbourne Cricket Club (Australia); Singhales Sports Club (Sri Lanka), Singapore National Team and the Singapore Cricket Club.

This was the local academy’s third invitation to the tournament, having previously featured in 2011 and 2012.

Meanwhile, Wynand Hefer and Matt McGillivray offered the silver lining for the local team on the tour, winning the Best Catch and Most Sixes awards respectively.

McGillivray starred in the victory against Singapore, smashing 91 not-out.
