East Rand Mall parking levy complaints roll on
Since the implementation of boom gates at the open parking at Entrance 1 of the East Rand Mall, residents have not stopped complaining.

Complaints include congestion at the entry and exit points, as well dissatisfaction at the increase in parking tariffs.
Another issue raised by residents is the inconvenience of not being able to drive out during the 15 minutes drop-off and pick-up period without having to go into the mall.
The East Rand Mall centre manager Petra Foord says that the new parking system is in the introduction phase, and because of this teething problems, are to be expected.
“Please note that the first 15 minutes is free to all patrons who validate their parking tickets at any pay station within the first 15 minutes of being at the mall.
“Tickets will not work if patrons proceed to the exit boom without validating their ticket first. This will certainly create a safer parking environment for all shoppers,” explains Foord
Foord further adds that the shopping complex is in the process of phasing in the acceptance of R50 notes at all paystations, which will assist both shoppers and tenants in a smoother experience when exiting the mall.
“This functionality has been implemented at the paystations at Entrance 1 already. Interpark staff will also be available onsite over weekends with change in an effort to streamline the payment process.
“We are working on a long-term plan to improve the overall shopping experience for all shoppers.” -@TumeloBoksburg

I am not shopping at the mall since the introduction of the new parking rules. This is taking advantage of customers. “Money don’t grow in trees““ Save parking“don’t buy this reason
I will no longer shop at ERM and I hope many people will follow suit. We spend our money at the mall and now we must pay for parking! Mall at Carnival and Lakeside are good alternatives.
whats the use of introducing the R50 note when the machine don’t accept the R10 or R20 now and I enjoy Eastgate its 100 times better and parking is so much better underground at Eastgate.
