Armed robber shot by his “colleague”

An attempted armed robber was allegedly shot by a fellow robber on September 5.

According to Lieut Juanita Coetzer, communications officer for the Boksburg North SAPS, an elderly woman was driving her vehicle into her premises when she saw a man next to her vehicle.

“There were about five men in her driveway and the one by her window demanded money and her vehicle keys.

“She refused, heard a loud bang and saw that her vehicle window had been shattered.”

Coetzer says that the woman’s son came out and pointed a BB pistol at the suspects.

“They then fled the scene, but one suspect fell dead in the driveway just before exiting the gate.”

“The suspect was allegedly shot by one of his fellow robbers. A bullet shell was also found inside the complainant’s vehicle, allegedly from the robbers’ firearm.”

A profile was done on the deceased, and it was established that he has a long criminal record of the following crimes of which he was convicted of :

n Possession of unlicenced ammunition without licence.

n Escaping or attempting to escape.
