According to Bheki Thwala, a resident from Windmill Park, the group is seeking clarity on their positions in a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project to upgrade the Rondebult Road in the area.
“The project (to extend the road) is a ward 43 project, but people who are hired are not residents of this area,” said Thwala.
“People from as far as Vosloorus and Spruitview have come here in taxis for jobs, but we were told that it’s a ward 43 project, and people from around this area would be hired, so we’ve decided to stop the project until we get a resolution.”
A formal meeting headed by Ekurhuleni MMC for Roads and Transport, Clr Thumbu Mahlangu, and the residents, is set to take place later on today from 2pm at the work sight. – @SabeloBoksburg
