Rugby: Mathee out with knee injury
Boksburg centre Marius Mathee will miss the Valke League local derby against rivals Brakpan, and is a doubt for The Owls’ away-trip to face Vaal Reefs after suffering a knee injury during his team’s win over North-West University on May 17.
According to assistant coach Fillip Lemmer, the midfielder will be sideline for three weeks.
“Marius went to see a specialist and he’s suffered a Grade Two ligament tear. He didn’t play against Vereeniging and he is set to miss the derby against Brakpan,” says Lemmer.
Mathee had been in impressive form in this season’s Valke League before the injury, scoring a brace in the league’s opener against Springs on May 10.
Boksburg face Vaal Reefs next on Saturday, June 7.
