Be a mother’s hero in blood donation drive
The blood drive themed "Safe blood for saving mothers" will be held at the East Rand Mall, at the entrance, next to Spur, from 9.30am to 3pm.

Members of the public aged between 16 and 65, healthy, weighing at least 50kg, leading a sexually safe lifestyle are invited to give blood during the event.
Tests to determine participants’ blood type will be conducted free of charge.
Donors will also walk away with gifts, such as picnic blankets and other goodies.
Blood donors are desperately needed.
According to The South African national Blood Service, each year, more than 500 000 women die needlessly during pregnancy or childbirth.
“Severe bleeding can kill even a healthy woman within two hours if unattended, and contributes to up to 44 per cent of maternal deaths in Africa,” says Boksburg SANBS, PRO, Mpho Letlatsa.
Letlatsa adds that up to 25 per cent of all maternal deaths could be prevented by access to safe blood.
“Twenty six percent of blood is used for women hemorrhaging as a result of childbirth and gynaecological cases. By receiving a blood transfusion, families can celebrate moments of happiness, friendship, peace and love,” says Letlatsa.
