
The 2014 Colgate 15km and 32km road race presented by the Boksburg Athletic Club, will take place on Sunday, May 4, at Both the 15km and the 32km races will begin at 6.30am.
Athletes who have not yet sent their entries to participate can still do so until Saturday, May 3. No entries will be accepted on race day.
The field limit for both distances is 5 000 participants.
The route for the race will start in Jubilee Road where the runners will run towards Brakpan, turning off at Barry Marais Road. Runners will then turn into Van Wyk Louw Drive where the first water point will be.
Runners will follow Van Wyk Louw Drive until they turn into Heidelberg Road where the second water point will be. They will then turn into Leeuwpoort Street, and continue along this road until they reach the third water point outside of the Colgate premises.
After Colgate they will turn into Van Dyk Road for a short distance before turning into Power Street, Brakpan Road, Lonie Road (fourth water point) and continue down until they turn into the stadium gates in Dudley Smith Road.
The 15km runners will then run onto the stadium track to complete their run and enjoy ice-cold beverages.
The 32km runners will continue out of the back stadium gates where the water point for the 32km runners will be set up, and do another loop of the above route.
The extra 2kms in the 32km race will require runners to do a loop in Boksburg South, running in the streets of Snyman, Dagama, Stanbury, Dick King Street, Walton Road and Dundee Street before joining in the route of the 15km where an extra water point will be set up for the runners.
There will also be a 6km fun run, which starts at 7am with the first 700 finishers receiving medals.
Moreover, entertainment for children will be available in a form of a 50m dash for u-8s, which starts at 10am. All participants will receive medals.
Jumping castles will also feature.
All participants in the 15km and 32km races will receive a medal, goodybag and a T-shirt after completing the race.
