Boksburg beat Benoni in Assupol Cup
It was a perfect weekend for Boksburg Rugby Club in the Assupol Cup, as their senior and “second” sides grabbed wins against neighbours Benoni, at PG Park on Saturday, March 29.

The Owls’ senior side came out as 26-17 victors after going into half-time with a 13-3 lead. They outscored the visitors by three tries to two.
Fullback Wayne (surname missing) scored a brace of tries with blindside flanker Danie Schultz grabbing the other. Wayne successfully slotted through three penalties and converted one of his tries to complete an impressive individual effort in the match.
Benoni hooker, Sarel du Plessis, responded for his side with his own brace of tries in the second half to put some respectability to the final score, following the penalty they took into half-time.
Two tries from number eight, Ruan Noeth, and lock, Fris Mulder, handed the Owls’ second side a convincing 24-10 victory against Benoni’s second XV.
The teams went into changing rooms with the score tied at 10-all, but Boksburg rallied after the restart with 14 unanswered points to claim the victory.
The Owls are set to start their Valke League campaign on May 10.
