Work on pipeline project underway
The newly-appointed contractors have started work on the pipeline project which has left open trenches across Boksburg.
Rand Water spokesperson, Justice Mohale, said that the project is set to be completed in February 2015.
“The delay in the completion of the project was due to the termination of contract of previous contractors, who left the project half finished,” says Mohale.
He added that the new contractors have, however, commenced work in February this year.
High on their priority list in their action plan is Kingfisher and Tokai streets, where they are going to apply coating to boiler patch and close the trench starting April 8.
Rondebult Road is also high priority where they will slide in pipe, grouts, install ends caps and close the trench starting April 3.
In Libradene, work will commence on April 8, were they will reinstate the stormwater pipe and backfill; this is also high on their list of priorities.
Tulgbah Street is a very high priority in the project where material will be removed from the road and paving blocks will be instilled on April 11.
Langehoven, Trichard and Dudley Smith streets are of moderate priority and contractors will slide in pipe, grout, install ends caps and close trench at the end of April and early May.
