
An unexpected large number of people from the nearby informal settlements attended the meeting.
Twenty seven new members for the CPF community patrollers were recruited during the event designed to create a working partnership between police and the communities.
The meeting was attended by the Brakpan Cluster Commander, Brig Wessie van der Westhuizen, Reiger Park police officers, Duncan Sibuyi from the Department of Community Safety, members of the Ekurhuleni Emergency Services, and CPF members.
According to Sgt Mashudu Phathela, spokesperson for the Reiger Park SAPS, this is one of the police’s initiatives to pro-actively engage in the fight against crime.
Substance abuse, domestic violence, theft, and assault were among the issues that were discussed at the meeting.
