Drugs found inside Teddy bear

R250 000 worth of mandrax tablets were found inside a Teddy bear at a courier company in Boksburg on February 11.

The bust follows a tip-off rceived by Lieut-Col Peter Kgomo, the Boksburg North Detective Branch Commander, concerning illegal substances.

This is according to Lieut Col Katlego Mogale, from the provincial SAPS.

“SAPS members were sent out to a courier company in Hughes, and on arrival, they found a box that was allegedly destined for Cape Town,” she says.

Mogale adds that on close inspection of the box, police allegedly found a pair of shoes, a juice box and a Teddy bear.

“With further investigation, the tablets were discovered stashed inside the bear and the juice box.

“The tablets were packed in 27 transparent plastic bags.”

She says that the Boksburg North police are on the hunt for the suspect who had brought the parcel to be couried.
