The Advertiser recently visited the construction site and discovered that construction work is progressing fast.
According to the school principal Lincoln van Ross, construction is ahead of schedule.
Van Ross says the project is scheduled for completion by March next year, and is likely to be completed before the end of 2014.
The new school building is being built by Yikusasa Building Contractors.
A few metres from the dilapidated double-storey modular school building, in which students battle against ceilings coming apart, 42 permanent classrooms are being build.
The structure also includes ablution blocks, a laboratory, and an admin centre among others.
Ward Clr Charlie Crawford is excited that the Department of Education has come through with funding for a new permanent building.
He states that he was among the community leaders who have been fighting for the erection of the permanent building for more than 35 years now.
“This will fulfil our dreams, since we have been waiting for so long that we call the school the ‘dream school’,” he said, last year.
The old structure will be demolished and the land will be used to build sports facilities.
